PDB spokesperson Saiful Hasan Chowdhury said it produced 8,032MW at 9:30pm on Sunday night.

There was no power outage at the time throughout the country, the PRO claimed.

On Wednesday, 7,923MW electricity was produced.

Chowdhury said 4,978MW was produced by gas-fired power plants while 2,402MW came from oil-based plants.

Thermal power plants contributed 75MW, hydro-power plants produced 124MW and the rest, 453MW, was imported from India.

According to the PDB, the power generation capacity doubled over the last six years.

Power-starved Bangladesh inked an agreement with Russia in 2013 for constructing a nuclear power plant as the government aims to produce 20,000MW by 2021.

Two private Indian companies signed a MoU with the PDB to develop four power plant units to produce 3,000MW.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that India would enhance the supply of power to Bangladesh from the 500MW to 1,100MW.
