Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner Bidhan Tripura told bdnews24.com that Jahidul Islam and ‘Rubel’ were arrested from the microbus at Uttara early in the morning on Thursday.

The victim filed a case at the Uttara East Police Station in the morning, he said.

OC Abu Bakar Mia told  bdnews24.com that the girl, who passed the SSC examination this year, lived with her husband in Nilphamari.

She came to Dhaka on Wednesday night for admission to college from Sylhet, where she had gone to visit her aunt.

She was waiting for a car to rent to go to her father’s at Tongi after getting off the train at Airport Station.

A microbus stopped in front of her and a youth on it said he was going to Tongi, too, and she could get a lift.

The victim agreed and then had dinner with the youth and the driver at a restaurant at Uttara.

But after the dinner, they roamed on the streets of Uttara instead of starting for Tongi.

She alleged that the duo tried to rape her on the microbus for several hours.

The OC said a police patrol stopped the car for its suspicious movement early in the morning and arrested the driver and the youth when the girl complained about the rape attempt.

On May 22, miscreants had dragged a Garo girl into a microbus and taken turns in raping her on Kuril Biswa Road in Dhaka.

Two were arrested over the incident.
