This time, too, Rony gave no confessional statement.

Investigation Officer Deepak Kumar Das produced the 42-year-old before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haq’s court on Thursday after two days of interrogation.

The court rejected Rony’s bail plea and sent him to jail.

Auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim died in a random firing on Apr 14.

On the following day, Hakim’s mother Monowara Begum filed a case with the Ramna Police Station against unidentified people.

Rony and his driver Imran Fakir were arrested on May 31 for their suspected link with the killings.

Police say the two were killed by the shots fired from Rony’s pistol.

He allegedly fired due to irritation caused by traffic snarls, his friend, who was in the car with him, testified in court.

Rony’s mother is also the general secretary of the Mahila Awami League, the ruling party's women’s front.
