Bangladesh girl Felani murder retrial resumes in India after three months

A special court at BSF Sector headquarters in India's Cooch Behar has resumed after three months hearing in the case filed over the death of Felani Khatun.

A 5-strong panel of judges led by Guwahati frontier DIG CP Trivedi heard the case at Sonari barrack, Kurigram 45 BGB Director Lt Col Zakir Hossain and the district’s Public Prosecutor Abraham Lincoln confirmed bdnews24.com.
 
The Bangladeshi minor Felani Khatun was shot dead by India’s Border Security Force in 2011.
 
The court began retrial on Mar 25 after four months of suspension, but it was again adjourned until June 30 due to BSF assistant public prosecutor’s illness.

A BSF court acquitted Constable Amiya Ghosh, the only accused in the killing, in 2013 due to 'inconclusive and insufficient' evidence.
 
Felani's father Nur​ul​ Islam on Sept 12 that year appealed to the Indian government through its High Commission in Dhaka for a retrial.
 
The retrial began on Sept 22 at the General Security Force Court set up at Cooch Behar's BSF sector headquarters in India.
