They are Joint Director (Printing) of the Identification System for Enhancing Access to Services (IDEA) Project, Mostafa Hassan Imam and technical expert Md Mahmud Hasan.
Brig Gen Sultan Md Saleh Uddin, Director General of the NID wing of Election Commission said that the two have been sacked for 'illegal transactions' while offering NID services.
"They were involved with touts who fleece those seeking corrections, renewal or issue of NID," Saleh Uddin said.
"There are mistakes in NID of many citizens and when they seek correction or renewal, these touts in league with some officials fleece for offering services."
"These two officials were hand in glove with these touts who run an illegal racket. They were receiving bribes."
Saleh Uddin said no citizen should offer bribes to get NID related services.
"We are determined to offer all NID related services as speedily as possible. The service network is being extended to the Upazila levels."
Bangladesh's Election Commission started issuing photo-ID cards for citizens from 2008 free of cost.
Besides offering laminated ID cards, services like correction of data, renewal, change of address were offered without any charge.
After September 2015, the services will cost a fee -- different rates for different services. The rates have been announced and vary between Tk 100 to Tk 1,000.
