The two countries’ border patrols exchanged fire on Wednesday on the Naf River in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf Upazila.

A BGB soldier was shot in the incident, while another, Nayek 'Razzak', was abducted by the BGP patrol.

Teknaf-based BGB 42 Battalion chief Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid told bdnews24.com that the delay was being caused because Myanmar’s foreign ministry was yet to give any instruction to its border forces in this matter.

Dhaka summoned the Myanmar envoy on Thursday and asked him to take measures to release the abducted BGB soldier as soon as possible.
