The lawyers of the Jamaat secretary general met him in Dhaka Central Jail on Saturday.

After the visit, his lawyer Shishir Monir said Mujahid asked them to file the review petition within 15 days after the full verdict is published.

He said the lawyers told him they will file the petition against the death sentence at the ‘right time’.

He also said the former minister told them that he could not understand why he was sentenced to death.

“He asked us to visit him again after the full verdict is published. He will read the verdict, analyse it and come up with a line of action," Munir said.

He also said the Jamaat leader greeted the people over Ramadan and asked for their blessings.

“He is mentally and physically strong. He thinks he will get justice through the review petition,” the lawyer said.

The other lawyers with Munir were Nazibur Rahman, Kamal Uddin, Matiur Rahman Akand and Mashiul Alam.
This was the lawyers’ first visit to Mujahid after the top appeals court upheld his death sentence on June 16.
Jail official Subedar Lal Mia said they were given 30 minutes to speak to Mujahid.
Senior Jail Superintendent Forman Ali on Friday said the lawyers had sought a meeting with the Jamaat leader.
Munir had said they wanted to speak to Mujahid in order to know what he was thinking about the Appellate Division verdict.
The International Crimes Tribunal sentenced the 1971 Al-Badr commander to death for his atrocities during the Liberation War.
He is convicted for the murder of intellectuals during the War against Pakistan.
