Border Guard Bangladesh soldier shot near Cox’s Bazar border

A border guard in Cox’s Bazar has been rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds.

Locals reported that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) soldier was injured while patrolling in Teknaf Upazila’s Naf River with shots being fired from Myanmar.

Cox’s Bazar BGB were yet to comment in the incident.

The wounded BGB soldier has been identified a ‘Bilpob’, 21. He has been admitted to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

Emergency wing doctor Noble Barua said that the soldier was brought to the hospital around 9am on Wednesday.

“He has been shot in the hand and another bullet grazed past his head,” he said.

The BGB authorities said they were aware of the ‘incident in Teknaf’.

BGB Cox’s Bazar Sector Commander Col MM Anisur Rahman told bdnews24.com: “I have heard about an incident in Teknaf. The media will be informed later.”

Teknaf BGB 42 Battalion chief Lt Col Abu Zar Al Zahid did not respond to phone calls.

Locals said the BGB trawler patrolling in the Naf River was attacked early morning.

According to unconfirmed reports, a BGB soldier was abducted from there, but there is no official confirmation yet.
