The United Nations declared the ‘International Day of Yoga’ last year, adopting an India-led resolution.
The High Commission began different programmes to raise awareness about yoga in Bangladesh last month.
Its new Deputy High Commissioner Aseem Mahajan inaugurated the Saturday’s exhibition that will continue till June 21 at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Gulshan.
Yoga is an art and science of healthy living and it focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body, according to the experts.
“You don’t really need any equipment. You can do it at any stage,” he said while talking about his photographs.
The images showed that yoga can be done even on rickshaw, boats, and while selling watermelons.
These photographs were shot in and around Dhaka and feature Anika Rabbani, a well-known yoga teacher, Samir Obaid, a popular musician, amongst others.
Indian High Commission’s first secretary Siddhartha Chattopadhyay introduced Ramakrishnan as an award-winning photographer, as well as the Managing Director of Perfetti Van Melle Bangladesh Pvt Ltd.
“His work has been extensively featured in several publications in India and outside, and also in exhibitions in India,” Chattopadhyay said.
