Roads are not up to standards, contractors are dodging rules, says Planning Minister Kamal

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has accused contractors of not maintaining standards in building roads.

He pointed out on Sunday that if engineers did not violate road construction codes, those would have lasted longer.

“If a [Tk 1 trillion] ADP is implemented properly, the look of the whole country should change. But that is not happening.”

The minister then went on to brief how proper roads should be built and the need to ensure dry surface before paving them.

He also emphasised use of concrete instead of asphalt for paving roads.

Kamal was speaking at a workshop on the findings of an ongoing IMED survey on 24 projects.
