Pankaj Saran speaking at a seminar in Dhaka on Saturday said Indian government under Modi’s leadership was committed to strengthen the relations with Bangladesh.

His approaches were to achieve “concrete outcomes”, the envoy said ahead of Modi’s June 6-7 visit in Dhaka, first after he became prime minister last year.

Saran, however, did not speak anything about the upcoming visit during his speech at the Bangladesh-India Friendship Society organised discussion on LBA, achievement and expectations.

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali was also present.

The Indian envoy said the LBA passage was a “milestone” in the relations between the two neighbours.

“We are in contact with the Bangladesh government about the modalities of its implementation,” he said.

He said now both Dhaka and Delhi had adopted policies that would improve people’s lives.

“We have to work together. We can succeed when both of us work together,” he said, suggesting more people-to-people contact apart from government level engagements.

He also urged the organisers to do which is “good” for both countries relations, so that “we can create a model of relations, which is beneficial for both sides”.
