Ten killed, 48 injured as truck, two buses collide in Sirajganj

At least ten people have been killed and 48 injured in a collision between two buses and a truck on the western link road of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj.

Bangabandhu Bridge (West) Police Station OC Helal Uddin said the death toll in Saturday’s accident, which occurred in Konbari area of Kamarkhand Upazila, might further rise.
 
The victims could not be identified immediately.
 
Witnesses said the driver of a tin-laden truck lost control of the vehicle after its front tyre burst. The truck collided head on with a Dhaka-bound bus of Antar Paribahan around 3pm.
 
A Nabil Enterprise’s bus then hit the Antar Paribahan bus from behind, killing two persons on the spot.
 
Four others succumbed to their injuries on way to hospitals.
 
Resident Medical Officer of Sirajganj Sadar Hospital Faridul Islam said four more persons died in the hospital.
 
The  bodies were at the hospital’s mortuary, he added.
 
The accident caused a traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Bogra Highway.
