The International Crimes Tribunal-2 gave its judgement on the war crimes trial on Wednesday, where it found the two guilty of crimes like, murder, abduction and torture in 1971.

The duo will have to spend the rest of their life in jail for crimes committed against humanity during the Bangladesh Liberation War.

“We are satisfied over the verdict,” Prosecutor Shahidur Rahman told bdnews24.com.

Out of the three charges levelled against them, the tribunal found them guilty of two counts.

The third charge was dropped by the tribunal as the two had been already sentenced under the 1972 Collaborators Act on the same charge.

“They had served prison terms from 1973 to 1987, which the court took into consideration,” said Rahman.

Wednesday’s verdict also observed that the investigator’s inefficiency was manifested in the third charge.

“We did not produce any witness after we came to know that they were already sentenced under the Collaborators Act. That’s why the court made the observation about investigator’s inefficiency,” the prosecutor said.
