Nepal PM thanks Hasina for Bangladesh’s quick post-quake relief, rescue response 

Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has conveyed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for Bangladesh’s quick response to help his country in the relief and rescue operations in the aftermath of the Apr 25 earthquake.

Her Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri said Koirala phoned her on Thursday evening.
 
He thanked her and the people of Bangladesh for promptly sending emergency relief materials and a medical team after the disaster.
 
During the 12-minute conversation, Hasina expressed her profound grief at the loss of lives and property in Nepal. 

She hoped the friendly relations between the two countries would strengthen.
 
Koirala spoke about his anxiety over the situation during the monsoon with most of the affected dwellings yet to be repaired. 

Hasina assured him of sending more house-building materials to repair the smashed homes and structures. 
 
She also offered her Nepalese counterpart the use of Syedpur and Ishwardi airports to carry relief and other materials.
 
The 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit capital Kathmandu and its surrounding areas claimed several thousand lives and left hundreds injured, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
