Former army man shot dead in Khagrhachharhi

Assailants have shot dead a former army personnel in the hilly district Khagrhachharhi.

Satindra Lal Tripura, 55, retired as an army sergeant several years ago.
 
Police could not identify as yet the motive behind the murder or those involved in it .
 

His brother Mihir Lal Tripura said he suspected that separatists in the Chittagong Hill Tracts are involved in the murder.

Khagrachharhi Sadar Police Station OC Shamsuzzaman Bhuyian said Satindra was killed at Khagrapur Dharmagarh, three kilometres from the district headquarter, on Saturday morning.

His body was sent to Sadar Hospital mortuary for post mortem examination, he said.

The army has started an investigation.

Locals said Satindra was sitting in a tea stall around 11am. The miscreants shot him dead when he went to a nearby canal while speaking on the phone.
