He made the appeal in his answer to a written query from bdnews24.com on the post-city polls Bangladesh scenario on Tuesday (local time).

The secretary general’s spokesperson Farhan Haq said the UN chief was aware of the BNP’s decision to boycott the Dhaka and Chittagong elections, amid allegations of widespread electoral fraud.

He said Ban Ki-moon also appealed to the authorities to investigate all allegations and urged the opposition to use the “democratic institutions” to express its concerns.
“The Secretary-General reiterates his call on all political leaders to find a peaceful resolution to the current situation,” Haq said.
