Six burnt in Gazipur gas-leak fire

Six workers have suffered burns in a fire from a gas-leak in a factory undergoing construction at Gazipur’s Kalyakoir.

‘Agami Washing Limited’ caught fire around 6am Monday, Kalyakoir Police SI Md Azim Hossain has said. 

Rehana Akhter, Fazlul Haque, ‘Dulal’, ‘Yasin’, Abdul Malek and another unidentified worker have been admitted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. 

Two fire-fighting units put out the flames after fighting them for an hour, said Kalyakoir Fire Station Senior Station Officer Apurba Bal. 

“The gas leaked out of the boiler pipe. Fire broke out when the stove was turned on,” he said. 
    
Rehana Akhter had come to cook for the construction workers who were asleep at the time of the fire, said SI Ajim.

The damage caused by the fire was yet to be estimated.
