Mobile money transactions, top up beyond Tk 1,000 restricted

All financial transactions exceeding Tk 1,000 through mobile phones have been restricted until Tuesday midnight.
Mobile phone users will not be also allowed to top up over Tk 1,000.
The Bangladesh Bank has issued a circular on Monday afternoon and sent it to mobile operators, banks and their subsidiaries for immediate action.
“Financial transactions through mobile phones over Tk 1,000 have been restricted until Tuesday midnight. Also no one will be able to top up more than Tk 1,000 in phones,” Bangladesh Bank’s General Manager AFM Asaduzzaman told bdnews24.com.
The restrictions come with barely a day left before elections to Chittagong and Dhaka city corporations are held on Tuesday.
