The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) and Shohoz Limited inked an agreement to make this possible on Sunday.

Anyone who wishes to procure tickets can buy them by ringing the help centre of online service provider shohoz.com at 16374.

Tickets of ‘MV Bangali’, ‘PM Mahmud’, ‘PS Ostrich’, ‘PS Lepcha’, ‘PS Turn’, and ‘MV Shela’ will be available online from May 1.

Minister Khan said Shohoz would sell 74 tickets of first and second class compartments and all third class tickets of these ships and steamers.

However, the BIWTC will sell tickets of VIP and other cabins.

He said the tickets would be available online five days before journey and Shohoz would charge Tk 21 for each ticket and Tk 50 for home delivery.

For third class tickets, the company would charge an extra Tk 10.

“I hope the new system will end problems faced by passenger and end black market of tickets,” Khan said.
