Miscreants kill mother and daughter in Gazipur, injures son

Unidentified assailants have hacked to death a mother and her daughter in Atlara Faukal area of Prahladpur Union of Gazipur’s Sreepur Upazila and seriously injured one of her sons.

Officer in Charge of Sreepur Police Abdul Motaled Mia said the miscreants broke into the mud hut of Hasina aka Hasuni Bibi, 50, around2am on Friday, where she used to stay with her daughter, Arifa Khatun, 18 and sons Mujibur Rahman, 25, and Shahjahan Mia, 21.

Prahladpur Chairman Abu Sayeed visited the place in the morning and told bdnews24.com that Hasina, Arifa and Shahjahan were sleeping in one room while Mujibor was sleeping in another.

Around 2 pm, neighbours and Mujibur were awakened by screams from Hasina’s hut. They rushed there hut but the miscreants had fled by then.

The three were taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital, where Arifa was declared dead. Hasina died while being taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital along with Shahjahan.

The chairman added, “Arifa was naked when recovered from the hut. The speculation is that the miscreants tried to rape her and hacked everyone and fled when her brother and mother tried to stop them.”

Quoting Mujibor, he said that the miscreants must have broken in sometime late in the night.

Shahjahan, who had suffered deep wounds on his head, used to work as a mason while his brother Mujibor worked in a Nestle factory. Arifa was a doing her graduation and used to teach young students.
