Awami League-backed candidate for South Dhaka, Sayeed Khokon was seen seeking votes at Chankharpool and surrounding areas on Thursday.

His wife, Farhana Sayeed, also campaigned for him at Old Dhaka’s Bahadur Shah Park.

Surrounded by a dozen supporters, she distributed copies of her husband’s poll manifesto among visitors to the park.

“I’m getting a lot of support,” she said. “My husband is an honest man. Give him a chance. He will dedicate himself to the service of Dhaka’s citizens just like his father did.”

Sayeed is a son of former Dhaka Mayor Mohammad Hanif. He is contesting the polls with the symbol of Hilsha, the fish which was once also the election symbol of his father.

Meanwhile, senior BNP leader Mirza Abbas’s wife Afroza Abbas has been campaigning on behalf of her husband, who is accused in several cases.
