Bhuyan has been accused of helping the ruling party candidates and of not taking adequate measures following attacks on a candidate supported by the 20-party alliance.

Returning officer Abdul Baten told bdnews24.com :"A letter to remove Khulshi police station OC has been sent to the Chittagong Metropolitan Police commissioner."

Baten said OC Bhuyan should not be engaged in any election-related duty and he should be replaced at Khulshi police station with a professionally competent officer whose integrity is not in doubt.

OC Bhuyan had been drawn into many controversies in recent weeks.

On 16 April , Jamaat-supported councillor  candidate Mahfuzul Alam's wife Khairul Janaat came under attack from supporters of a rival Mohd Hossain Hiron at the Wireless area in Chittagong's Pahartoli.

Janaat promptly filed a complaint with the police but later complained to ther Returning officer that there was much delay at the police station in accepting her complaint.

Janaat's house was again attacked after she had complained -- so Returning officer Baten wrote to the Khulshi police station OC to ensure adequate measures for Janaat and her husband .
