South Korean embassy on Wednesday said its ambassador Lee Yun-young invited them to visit the site restored at the initiative of the Korean Youngone Corporation.

Ambassadors of France, Russia, Denmark, Italy, European Union, Egypt and High Commissioner of Malaysia are among the 27-member delegation that will visit the site on Saturday.

The Korean embassy said the main purpose of the visit was to let them know the historical importance of the heritage.

Youngone Corporation is one of the largest Korean investors operating in Bangladesh and the sponsoring company of Korean EPZ in Chittagong.

It took the initiative in 2012 with Bangladesh’s architects under its CSR programme.

Nearly 70 percent of the restoration work has been completed, the embassy said.

The entire restoration work is expected to be complete by the end of this year.

Currently, over 220 Korean companies in Bangladesh employ more than 160,000 Bangladeshi workers and make $1.3 billion export, accounting for six percent of the Bangladesh’s total exports.
