Dhaka Metropolitan Special Tribunal- 5 judge Ruhul Amin granted him bail on Monday after his lawyer moved the bail plea on health ground.

His lawyer Mizanur Rahman stated Shahid had been suffering from kidney, prostate gland and diabetes related illness.

On Feb 4, 2014 Shahid was arrested by RAB officials from a house in Dhaka’s Gendaria area.

They recovered three pistols, one revolver and 62 rounds of ammunition at that time.

RAB official Niti Bikash Dutta filed a case on the same day under the Arms Act.

On May 19, 2014 the investigating official SI Pradip Kumar submitted the charge sheet.

Later, on Nov 24 the trial began at the court.

On Mar 31 the court heard partial statement of the plaintiff.

The infamous terrorist known as Shahid Commissioner hails from the Old Dhaka area.

There are at least four murder cases, including that of Atiqullah Chowdhury of Keraniganj, against him.

After ten years in prison, the High Court acquitted Shahid in the Advocate Habibur Rahman Mandal murder case about five years ago, overruling a death sentence awarded to him by a lower court.

Some other murder charges against him are currently pending with the High Court.

Shahid came out in public last year after lying low for quite some time, before contesting the Jan 5 polls, which he lost.
