The law enforcers have urged all to provide, if any, information on the harassers.

Identity of the informant will not be revealed, police say.

Police formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s additional Commissioner Mohammad Ibrahim Fatemi has been made the chief of the panel.

Detective Branch spokesman Monirul Islam said another committee had been formed to investigate the allegation of negligence of duty against police.

People across Bangladesh are protesting against last Tuesday’s sexual harassment of women on Dhaka University campus during Bengali New Year celebrations.

Police spokesman SM Jahangir Alam Sarker told bdnews24.com on Saturday that the probe panel had started work.

The committee has requested all to provide information on the harassers if someone has any to its member secretary on his phone – 01711-605146.

The role of on-duty police during the incident has been criticised. Many demanded step against the police officials deployed there for their alleged negligence of duty.

DB’s Monirul said on Saturday that no victim had made any complaint to the police.

“Police have filed a case with the Shahbagh station. We are trying to identify those responsible for the incident by seeing the video footages. They will be arrested once they are spotted,” he said.

He also urged the media to provide any video footage of the incident if they have any.

He said Liton Nandi, a student leader who fractured his arm while protecting the women, could not identify any of the victims.

“We’ve sought more information from him. Police need to speak to the victims. Liton Nandi’s information will also be checked,” Monirul said.

He also said detectives will investigate who were propagandising in social media by morphing photos of earlier incidents and posting them as that of Pahela Baishakh incident.
