Six die in road crash in Bogra and Sirajganj

Six people have died in separate road accidents in Bogra and Sirajganj.

Dhunat Plice’s OC Ziaur Rahman said a head-on collision between a brick-laden truck and a motorcycle killed Md Momtaj Uddin, 45, and his wife Shefali Khatun, 35, near the Upazila’s Sonahata area around 9am on Saturday.

Injured ‘Obaidur’ has been admitted to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, said police.

In another incident around the same time near the town’s Khandar area, Omar Faruk, 20, was run over by a bus.

Bogra Sadar Police’s OC Abul Bashar said, “Omar Faruk’s motorcycle hit a rickshaw while overtaking a bus. As Faruk fell on he was run over by the bus. He died on the spot.”

Earlier, on Friday night, a head-on collision between a bus and a truck near the Bangabandhu Bridge West left two dead and 15 injured.

According to the Bangabandhu Bridge Police’s OC Helal Uddin, the two died on the spot.  

One of the deceased has been identified as China Khatun, 20.

The injured had been taken to various local hospitals in Sirajganj, he said.
