Cyber diplomacy is one of the foreign policy priorities of Bangladesh’s current government.

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali discussed the issue while meeting India’s Deputy National Security Advisor Arvind Gupta at The Hague.

The foreign ministry said they met on the sidelines of the global conference on cyber space on Friday.

Bangladesh joined the just launched Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) at The Hague for promoting international cooperation on cyber security.

The foreign minister speaking at the conference earlier reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to make cyberspace “more inclusive, secure and resilient”.

Gupta appreciated measures being taken under the “Digital Bangladesh” initiative, as highlighted by the foreign minister at GCCS conference.

Ali exchanged views with the Indian side about building further bilateral cooperation in cyber security, including at the operational level.

Both of them suggested addressing cyber security issues under the framework of regular ‘security dialogue’ between the neighbours.
