The foreign ministry in a statement said an Indian Navy ship took them to Djibouti on Thursday.

Bangladesh is operating a repatriation control room there led by its ambassador in Kuwait.

Dhaka has no mission in Yemen and Djibouti.

So far, 496 Bangladeshis have been evacuated by Indian naval ships.

Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque earlier said they had listed more than 500 Bangladeshis stranded in Yemen.

The foreign ministry on Thursday said the government was arranging food, shelter and other logistics for the rescued Bangladeshis during their stay in Djibouti, a tiny East African state.

They will be flown back to Dhaka on Apr 20 in a Biman Bangladesh Airlines special flight.

India has evacuated nationals of at least 26 countries, including Americans and Pakistan.

It called off its own rescue mission a week back.

But its naval ships remained operative for the help of other nationals.

The Bangladeshis rescued earlier are on their way to Kerala by Indian ships from where they will be brought back to Dhaka with a special Biman flight.

Yemen became volatile with the rise of Shia Houthis who took over the capital six months ago and ousted its President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The situation took a turn for the worse when Saudi-led airstrikes began.
