Truck crushes autorickshaw in Barisal’s Kashipur, 6 dead

At least six persons have died and another six injured when a truck crushed an autorickshaw in Banshtala area of Kashipur Union of Barisal Sadar.

All the casualties of the incident on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway around 9:15am on Thursday were passengers of the autorickshaw.

Airport Police OC Matiar Rahman said, “The autorickshaw was coming towards Barisal from Rahmatpur of Babuganj Upazila. The Dhaka-bound truck ran over it in Kashipur. Five died on spot.”

Seven injured were taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. One died there, ward master of the hospital, Abul Kalam, said. 

The police official said none of those could be identified. Two of them are females.

Matiar said traffic on the highway was disrupted  for an hour after the accident.
