The incident happened on Thursday at old Dhaka’s Nababbarhi Pukurpar, said Assistant Police Commissioner of Kotwali zone Ahaduzzaman Mia.
The businessman Badal Munshi, 32, was taken to the Mitford Hospital before being shifted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Munshi, who is one of the partners of a business at Badmatali wholesale fruits market, sustained gunshot wounds in his right leg, said the police official.
He along with two employees was heading to a bank at Islampur to deposit the money.
“Six men attacked them when they reached Nababbarhi area. They shot at Badal’s (Munshi) leg and snatched the bag containing the cash,” said Mia.
He added that many businessmen of old Dhaka frequently travel with a good amount of cash and they do not always inform the police.
