The bench of Justices Md Nuruzzaman and Zafar Ahmed granted him a six-month bail after hearing bail pleas of four separate cases on Thursday.

It also issued a rule on authorities asking why he will not be granted bail in the four cases including this one.

The Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka district has been asked to come up with explanation by two weeks.

Mirza Fakhrul was represented by Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, AJ Mohammed Ali, Joynul Abedin and Mahbubuddin Khokon at the hearing. Lawyer AKM Ehsanur Rahman assisted them. Additional Attorney General Momtaj Uddin Fakir argued for the state.

Three of the four cases over violence against the senior BNP leader was filed with the Paltan police while the rest with Motijheel police.

He has been accused of damaging vehicles, carrying out arson and exploding handmade bombs in the cases.

Mirza Fakhrul is in the process to appeal for bail in two others cases with the High Court, said his lawyer AKM Ehsanur Rahman.

The BNP leader, who was arrested on Jan 6, had earlier failed to secure bail from the trial courts before filing petitions with the High Court this month.
