They were caught on Wednesday afternoon for ‘suspiciously roaming’ around in the area where the Mancha activists were demonstrating, demanding execution of war criminal Mohammad Kamaruzzaman.

The duo could not be identified immediately.

Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker said the two had been hanging around before the start of a march.

“Our activists kept an eye on them. On being searched, two machetes were found in their bag,” he said.

Suspected religious extremists hacked to death writer-blogger Avijit Roy in the area on Dhaka University campus on Feb 26.
On Mar 30, online activist Oyasiqur Rahman Babu was killed in the same manner at Tejgaon.
Blogger Arif Jebtik posted a photo of the duo caught on Wednesday and hoped police would be more active to catch such elements.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Shibli Noman said the two were in their custody.
