12 gold bars seized at Shahjalal Airport

Customs officials of the Shahjalal International Airport have recovered gold bars weighing 12 kilograms from a wooden container.

The haul, worth around Tk 60 million, was made at the airport’s cargo unit from a box that had been flown in on a Cathay Pacific Airways flight from Hong Kong on Thursday.

Customs intelligence Director General Mainul Khan said the box, brought in by ‘Jara International’, was supposed to contain electric fans.
An investigation had begun to catch those behind the foul play, he said.
