Fire at Opsonin Pharma factory in Barisal leaves 1 dead, 4 burnt

A fire at the factory of Opsonin Pharma Ltd in Barisal has left one dead and four others burnt.

All of the victims were workers of the factory.

The fire broke out around 2:30am on Sunday, according to the Barisal fire service.

Five fire-fighting units extinguished the flames after four hours of effort.

The dead has been identified as Nesar Pyadar, 48.

Others who were injured are being treated at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital.

The fire originated from a packaging facility of the pharmaceuticals plant and spread quickly, said Barisal Fire Service Assistant Director Shawkat Hasan.

Fire-fighters rescued five workers with burn injuries after the flames were tamed and rushed them to the hospital, where the doctors pronounced Pyadar dead.
