French prosecutors believe co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, 27, locked himself alone in the cockpit of the Airbus A320 on Tuesday and deliberately steered it into a mountain, killing all 150 people on board including himself.

Spain’s government has said at least 51 Spaniards were among the victims. Airline Germanwings has said 35 of the 125 passengers identified were Spaniards.

A “shocked and saddened” Hasina extended her “heartfelt and deepest” condolences to those who have lost their near and dear ones.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families and the friendly people of Spain at this difficult hour,” she wrote to the Spanish prime minister.

German prosecutors’ investigation revealed that the pilot had received a sick note from doctors showing he suffered a health condition that would have prevented him flying the day of the crash, which he apparently hid from his employer.
