PM attends President’s party at Bangabhaban on Independence Day

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined a party hosted by President Md Abdul Hamid at Ganabhaban to celebrate Independence Day.

She was among politicians, diplomats, wounded freedom fighters, artistes, and cultural personalities who joined the party on Thursday.
 
They thronged the Bangabhaban ground from morning until evening to celebrate the day with the president.
 
Performance of renowned folk singers, patriotic song performers and children artistes added a different dimension to the function.
 
President Hamid exchanged greetings with the guests after the National Anthem was sung following his arrival with his wife Rashida Khanam to the dais in the afternoon.
 
The president and the prime minister inquired about the health condition of the wounded freedom fighters and assured help.
 
They later cut a cake at the enclosure for VVIPs.
 
They were seen speaking with ministers, ambassadors of foreign countries, foreign guests, Supreme Court judges, MPs, editors, chiefs of the three forces, vice chancellors and others.
 
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury sat beside Hasina, while the Leader of the Opposition Raushon Ershad sat after her.
 
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha and Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah were also present.
 
Dhaka North City Corporation mayor aspirants businessman Annisul Huq and former MP Sarah Begum Kabori also attended the function.
 
No one from the BNP responded to the president’s invitation.
