Nur Hossain’s aide Raham Ali to be grilled for 7 days

A Narayanganj court has allowed police seven days to question Raham Ali, associate of Nur Hossain, the key suspect in Narayanganj’s sensational seven-murder case.

Raham was in hiding since the murders on Apr 27 last year. He was picked up from the Comilla’s Devpur area Burichang Upazila on Monday.

Investigating Officer Mamunur Rashid Mandal produced him in court on Tuesday. He sought his 10-day custody from Narayanganj’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Chadni Rupom.

The judge granted seven days after the hearing, the court’s Additional Public Prosecutor KM Fazluror Rahman said.

Narayanganj City Corporation Councillor Nazrul Islam and lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker along with five others were abducted on Apr 27 and their bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River a few days later.
  
Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam Beauty filed a case naming Nur Hossain. He went into hiding after the bodies were recovered and was later arrested in Kolkata, along with two associates, for illegally entering the country.

Raham Ali is accused of running an illegal fair at the truck terminal in Shiddhirganj’s Shimrail area.

Locals burnt down the fair pandal after the seven murders. The authorities also scrapped his gun permit after the killings. 
 
Police have altogether arrested 31 people over the murders, including three RAB officers. Of them, 19 have given their confessional statements in court.
