BAU Registrar Md Abdul Khaleque said the teachers tendered their resignations together on Tuesday noon.

The teachers include several hall provosts, house tutors and assistant provosts.

Democratic Teachers’ Forum, a panel of pro-Awami League teachers, has been demanding resignation of the institution’s Vice Chancellor Prof Md Rafiqul Hoque, raising allegation of moral turpitude against him.

Recently, an audio clip of conversations between the VC and a class-III female employee and several photos of the two were leaked on the social media.

A section of teachers are agitating demanding Hoque’s resignation following the conversations and photo leak.

However, a section of officials and employees of the university are holding demonstrations in support of the VC.

Democratic Teachers’ Forum General Secretary Prof Enamul Haq at a press conference on Monday said allegations of Hoque’s interference in the recruitment process had been raised since he took over as the VC.

The University Grants Commission is investigating the allegations.

Earlier on Sunday, a section of officials and employees formed a human chain in support of the vice chancellor under the banner of BAU ‘Institutional Command of Freedom Fighters Council’.

They demanded trial of those ‘involved in hatching conspiracy’ against Hoque.

Democratic Teachers’ Forum also formed a human chain on the same day demanding removal of the vice chancellor.

VC Hoque denied the allegations against him at a press conference at his residence on Monday.

The vice chancellor was not immediately available for his comment on the teachers’ resignation.
