Six, including a child, killed in road accidents

At least six people, including a child, have been killed and 33 others injured in road accidents throughout Bangladesh.

The accidents took place in Tangail, Rangpur, Savar, Naogaon and Faridpur on Friday.

In Tangail, 10-year old Reema Khatun and Alam Mia, 30, were killed on the spot when a bus of ‘Nabil Paribahan’ and a truck collided head-on in the afternoon at Dubail.

Four of the 15 people injured are in critical condition, Gorhai Police Station OC Humayun Kabir said.

They have been admitted to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital and Tangail Medical College and Hospital.

A similar accident in Faridpur killed one and injured at least 15 others on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway around noon.

The deceased could not be identified.

Police say the injured are being treated at Faridpur Medical College and Hospital.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle ran over 75-year-old Abu Bakar in Rangpur’s Kawnia killing him on the spot, police said.

The driver, 35-year-old ‘Pistol’, was also injured in the accident.

In Savar, a rickshaw puller was killed at Ulail when a bus run him over while crossing the road, police said.

The victim was identified as Khalilur Rahman, 32, of Joypurhat.

In Naogaon, a truck hit a motorcycle at Manda Upazila killing one and injuring two others.

Lutfor Rahman, 45, of Chapainawabganj was going to Manda with two of his relatives when a Rajshahi-bound truck ran them over, killing him on the spot, Manda police OC Mozaffar Hossain said.

The injured, who are yet to be identified, have been admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
