Thursday’s two attacks were strikingly similar.

The BNP-led alliance has been enforcing an indefinite blockade since Jan 5 demanding a snap election.

Clashes between the Awami League and BNP-led coalition have been frequent since then.

In Bogra Sadar, attackers hacked Moniruzzaman Manik, 25, member of ward No. 20 unit, when he was chatting with fellow activists at a tea stall.

Subhasish Poddar Liton, Juba League’s district unit joint general secretary, said another of their activists Rafiul Islam Rabbi had been injured.

Rabbi has been admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.

Manik died while being taken to hospital, said Bogra Sadar Police Station OC Abul Bashar.
In a separate development, armed assailants hacked to death a Natore Juba League leader in the town.
Siraj Sikdar, 30, was the deputy general secretary of ward No. 2 unit.
Natore Sadar Police Station OC Mijanur Rahman said some unidentified men slashed Sikdar on Thursday night when he was sitting at a shop in the town’s Uttar Patuaparha.
Doctors say he died of excessive bleeding before being brought to the hospital.
