Truck carrying food grains set on fire in Lalmonirhat

A truck carrying foodgrains was set to fire by the blockade supporters on Wednesday night in Lalmonirhat.

Lalmonirhat’s Patgram Police Station OC Rejaul Karim said four people have been detained for the arson on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway near the Upazila’s Jummaparha area.

Local fire service doused the flames within an hour.

However, about 70 percent of the truck along with the foodgrains has been burnt, according to the Fire Service Station In-Charge Shajahan.

The truck driver Mominul Haq, 42 with his assistants escaped by jumping off the truck.

Quoting the driver the OC said, the troublemakers blocked the road with banana trees, bamboo and tree branches to stop the truck.

Afterwards they poured petrol and set the truck on fire.
