Five compartments of the Dhaka-bound train from Noakhali went off the tracks at 10:40am on Tuesday.

It was taking a turn at Puniaut level crossing immediately after leaving Brahmanbaria Station, its master, Mohidur Rahman, said.

“No one was hurt and it seems that the derailment occurred because of faulty tracks .”

He said since there are two tracks, the rail-link did not snap completely and that they were moving trains through a single track but that was causing delays..

A recovery train from Akhaura has already reached the site and situation will become normal once the derailed compartments are moved away , the station master added.

A number of compartments of the Dhaka-bound Chattrala Express went off track at the same area on Feb 13.
