The derailment of a compartment of the Sylhet-bound ‘Joyontika Express’ on Thursday afternoon had caused the disruption.

Amirganj Station’s Master Golam Maola said trains started running on the routes about 8pm.

No one was injured in the derailment but the cause of the accident was not yet known.

The Jayantika Express resumed its journey after a rescue train put the derailed compartment back on rails.

Meanwhile, five compartments of the Dhaka-bound ‘Upakul Express’ went off the tracks in the morning in Brahmanbarhia.

But rail communication was not disrupted, thanks to a double line there.
