A large number of police, RAB and BGB personnel have been deployed in and around the temporary court on the Alia Madrasa ground in Bakhsibazar.

Police have been stationed at the main entrance of the court since Wednesday morning.

Except for prosecution and defence lawyers, others were prohibited entry.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Lalbagh unit’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Abida Sultana said security is tight to prevent any untoward incident.

The trial against misappropriation of Zia Charity Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust has been going on in this temporary court.

Dhaka’s Third Special Judge’s Court had issued an arrest warrant on Feb 25 against Khaleda Zia after her failure to appear in court for hearing of the graft cases several times.

A progress report following the warrant is supposed to be submitted at the court on Wednesday.

Khaleda’s press secretary said even though she had woken up it has not been decided whether she would appear in the court. She is waiting for her lawyer’s advice.

Khaleda had last attended a hearing on Dec 24. Clashes erupted between BNP supporters and police at the Bakshibazar area on that day.
