The deceased Arifur Rahman Farhad, 35 was the joint convener of Bhangakha Union’s Juba League, said Mijanur Rahman Patwari, joint convener of the Upazila Juba League.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nasim Mia said the bullet–riddled body of Farhad was found near a saw mill at Mirikpur bazar around 8am on Wednesday.

The body bore several bullet wounds in the head, belly and chest, said ASP Nasim.

Police is trying to find the killers.

Earlier in August 2014, Farhad was hacked and injured following an internal feud with fellow activists.

On Tuesday, police arrested one Md Rashid in connection with that incident.

Farhad’s father suspects this could be the reason for his murder.

He told bdnews24.com Farhad had been to a seminar held by the District Awami League on Tuesday.

After he came home, at around 3am a few men called him out. Later, in the morning the locals found his body and informed the family.

The body has been sent to the Sadar Hospital morgue, said ASP Nasim.
