However, four persons, who were sleeping inside the vehicles, have escaped unhurt.
Panchagarh’s Boda Police Station OC Majnur Rahman said the miscreants torched the vehicles that were parked near the Bagdul Jhula bazar of the Upazila on Wednesday.
OC Rahman, quoting the locals, said the two drivers and two other persons were sleeping inside the parked vehicles at that time.
A group of men began to break the windshields and windows of the vehicles around 3.30am.
Bus driver Al-Amin, his assistant ‘Lalon’, truck owner Shawkat Ali and driver Sumon Mia woke up hearing the noise and then jumped out of the window to safety.
“The miscreants then set the vehicles on fire. Most of the interior of the bus and truck were burnt by the time fire service officials could put out the fire,” said OC Rahman.
Owner of the truck Shawkat Ali said six people riding in two motorcycles carried out the attack. Two of them remained seated on the bike while the rest vandalised and set fire to the vehicles, he added.
On Monday, two buses and two Awami League offices in Panchagarh were also set on fire in similar manner.
