The demonstration on the Begum Rokeya Sarani stopped traffic between the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) and the Agargaon intersection for more than two hours on Tuesday.

SAU student Ali Ahmed died in the accident in front of the BICC around 11 am, said Tejgaon Police Assistant Commissioner Afruzul Haque.

The bus that ran him over has been seized.

Almost 20 to 25 vehicles were vandalised by SAU students, who poured out on the streets after the incident and remained there for the next two hours.

The angry protesters moved away following police persuasion, allowing traffic to resume around 2 pm, said Haque.
