A bus and a truck torched in Noakhali

A truck and a bus have been set on fire in Noakhali amid the BNP-led alliance’s ongoing blockade and shutdown.

Sudharam Police Station’s OC Anwar Hossain said the vehicles had been torched near Maizdi bus stand and Datterhat Truck Owners Association’s office in Noakhali town on Tuesday morning.
 
According to the locals and the police, 5 to 6 men stopped the bus by hurling bricks. Once the passengers got off, they set the bus alight.
 
The driver’s assistant was hit by bricks, the police said.
 
Maizdi fire service officials put out the fire.
 
Earlier, a truck parked near the office of the Datterhat Truck Owners Association office, was also torched.
 
“Police are trying to catch those behind the incidents,” said OC Anwar.
 
Meanwhile, police have arrested two persons after a nightlong raid in different parts of Noakhali.
 
They were accused of being involved in acts of sabotage during the BNP sponsored blockade and shurdown, said Superintendent of Police Md Ilias Sharif.
