Two more buses torched during blockade

Miscreants have torched two more buses in Dhaka and Narayanganj on Saturday amid the nonstop blockade by the BNP.

A route-7 bus was set on fire at Johnson Road in the court area of the capital city around 10:15am on Saturday, Fire Service control room official Nazma Akter said.

She said two fire-fighting units tamed the fire in front of National Medical College.

No casualties was reported so far , she added.

In Narayanganj, a Glory Paribahan bus was set ablaze at Bhulta in Rupganj on Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 6:30am.

Witnesses said locals doused the flames after eight seats had been burnt. No one was hurt in the incident.

Rupganj police Inspector Mehedi Hasan said the bus was set afire on its back side.

At least 25 people have been burnt to death and hundreds of vehicles have been torched during the blockade started from Jan 5.
