Body of former Ittefaq advisory editor’s daughter found

The body of the daughter of Akhtar Ul Alam, former advisory editor of the Daily Ittefaq, has been recovered from a house at Dhaka’s Rampura.

Fahmida Akhter Nipun, 45, had her hands and legs tied.

She used to live alone on the fifth floor of the house at Rampura Mohanagar Prakalpa.

Police suspect she was choked to death some time on Thursday night.

Rampura OC Mahbubur Rahman Tarafder said the body lay on the floor with a muffler around the neck. Her hands and feet were strapped.

A housemaid saw the body and informed police.

Nipun’s husband and son live abroad, said the OC.

Nipun’s father Akhtar Ul Alam was the Ittefaq’s advisory editor towards the end of the 1980s. In 1991, when the BNP was in power, he was sent to Brunei as an ambassador for two years. He died on Jun 25, 2010.
